Heather Hamel

Heather leads the Legal department at Dewpoint, where she is responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of the company’s legal function, including providing strategic legal advice to the executive team and business leaders on a wide range of legal matters, ranging from corporate governance, intellectual property operations and strategy, and data privacy, to employment law, financing and strategic partnering support, and compliance matters.

Prior to Dewpoint, Heather served as General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of InVivo Therapeutics, a publicly traded biotechnology company focused on spinal cord injury and other CNS diseases, leading all aspects of the company’s legal department. Before InVivo, Heather worked at Ecolab, Inc., where she oversaw a variety of legal matters including intellectual property strategy, patent prosecution and litigation management. Ahead of her role at Ecolab, Heather worked at PLR IP, Inc., where she was responsible for global intellectual property licensing and partnering across a range of assets. Earlier in her career, she worked in private practice at Schwegman, Lundberg and Woessner, P.A., and at the Washington Center as a legal associate. Before starting her legal career, Heather spent several years as a scientist working as a biomaterials research associate at the University of Wisconsin. Heather has also served as an external legal advisor to various early-stage pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Heather holds B.S. degrees in biochemistry and chemistry from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, a J.D from William Mitchell College of Law, and a Master of Liberal Arts degree in General Management from Harvard University.
